Will someone PLEASE explain the AvX story arc to me in basic terms?
Maybe I am tainted by all of the Marvel global events in which they end up with little to no impact on anything that lasts, but I would think that ANYTHING dealing with the Phoenix Force would change the world!
Not to mention... how is it that THOR couldn't shut the entire thing down??
I tried to read it, lost interest in hopping from comic book title-to-comic book title, and lost hope. Now I'd like to just understand what happened?
I quit buying them in the 90's too. I just couldn't afford them anymore. From 2004-2008 I worked at the Tyrone Mall and on my lunch breaks I was able to go to Borders and sit and read them for free. Plus they had a large graphic novel section. So I kind of got caught up with what my old friends were up to. Now since that time I have gotten out of the loop again. So I'm not much help there either. Sorry. Knight-Hood
It's always amazing to see how many of us have 'drifted' away from comics and the general worlds of fictional heroes. It often leaves me wondering, 'What happened?'
Comics have changed. Some say the magic of them is gone, while others insist that it is still there, it has merely changed. Is this because we've aged or is it because of evolution in order to serve the new generation of readers?
Statistics prove that the highest amount of comic sales are to older males, averaging somewhere around 35yrs of age. Hmmm... when we were kids, it seemed that the comics catered to us.
What happened to viewing streaks of blue, green, and red battling the forces of evil with 'gigantic' statements of goodness and bravado in the midst of the most terrible situations?
Now-a-days, we have characters in jeans, jackets, sweaters, etc. with powers that kill, along with the very same characters that are willing to kill. Light-Guns (Blue Beetle) have been replaced with Magnum revolvers and semi-automatics. Staves of gravity control and rings of power stand face-to-face with M-16 rifles, blades that come out the back of your hands, and no masks with whiskers.
No one cares about keeping their identity and collatoral damage is actually cool.
Yesterday can never return - it can be remembered and appreciated, but it will never return. The thing is... IF we could bring some magic back to the experience of superheroes, what would it be like?
What would it take to, personally, bring YOU back to comics - purchasing them, collecting them, and enjoying them? What would it take to bring you back to the world of fictional superheroes?

It would take a return to the old school values: Morality, Integrity, Bravery, Respect for Life. All of the things that this sadly desensitized world now scoffs at... It would take a return to what made heros, HEROS!
The Muse leaves you in a zen cloud of well being, positive energy and creative fire. You find yourself succumbing to the overwhelming urge to write and create.......
Mostly the price. Who can afford such prices for comics nowadays? However the invention of the Ipad, Kindle, Nook etc could signal a return to lower prices by viewing them on line. I would buy them again if they became affordable. Another problem solved by these devices is space. My original comic book collection took up an huge air conditioner box in my basement. Unfortunately my basement flooded and I lost all my number one issues of Marvel comics. Heartbreaking but it was pre-plastic covers. I began collecting again and in 89 my house burned down and I lost them all again. Had I not lost the collection though I would have needed a warehouse just to store them all in. So saving them electronically could also be a selling feature.
Regarding the changing morals in comics, they merely reflect the world we live in sadly. This was one of my goals in creating Alex Breydon to see if an old style pulp fiction character could really be done realistically in today's world. Knight-Hood
Omen: Get in line, I have been working like crazy also. I have two major projects I have to finish and hopefully everything slows down. Haven't had time to log into the board... I actually miss it. It feels good popping my head in to see what's going on.

g40t90yes: Good Morning. Now I am no political activist, but with is going on in today's activist world, I have a question. Last Sunday Vice President Pence walked out of a Colts Football game because the Players took a knee. I would like to read your View about this

g40t90yes: Continue. Now The NFL Owners (Jones-Cowboys, Ross-Dolphins) are going to demand their players stand for the Anthem. Again just thinking out loud. Couple of weeks ago Owners (Jones) knelt with players. Now you are pulling back. Why??

g40t90yes: One more thing. Some people view The NFL Draft and NBA Draft as a modern day or fashionable auction block for black young men. Thoughts!!! Please.

The Muse: Im sure there are going to be a lot of thoughts on this...why not start a thread on the topic under the "chat" board. It will be easier for everyone to read and comment on it there. This shoutbox is kinda cumbersome to have to scroll through to read stuff.

The Muse: Where does the time go?
Nov 7, 2017 9:26:16 GMT -5
Omen: I don't know... some say time goes around in circles - for me, its just a dreary long squiggly line, in some places in its a smile, in others... its not.
