since l've already viyed the DS influence l might as well note that l picture at least some of the characters [though not all] as actors from the show. Seth is one of those though the actor does not have amber eyes to my knowledge. His name is Christopher Pennock. On the show he played the characters of Jeb Hawkes, the Leviathan leader, the Jekyl/Hyde character from parallel time 1970, the Hippie astrologer Sabastien Shaw and finally Gabriel Collins in 1840-41. lt was the latter character an embittered sarcastic cripple and brother to Quentin 1 who inspired Seths appearance and mannerisms though agmittedly wheel chair bound characters are something of a gothic staple. The house is sort of a combination of Seaview terrace From DS and the mansion used in the first three Xmen movies as well as Poltergiest the series [Harlet CASTLE in Canada].l have not really found a model for Cyntha yet though l've considered a few actresses. Lately, l've leaned towards A,J. Cook of Criminal Minds and Poppy Montgomery formerly of Without a trace if l recall the title accurately.l'm not sure either is quite right but theyre fairly close. Although l've never found an actor l envision as lan Holderness l do have a rather precise image of him formulated almost 40 years ago which l've illustrated many times in both his modern and 19th century guise. Although l have no scanner Knighthood might still have some copies of some of the art l sent him years back that include characters from the novel.
I still have them and am in the process of sending them to you via email. My aol though is so slow it will probably take hours. By the way the house you mentioned currently is being used in Arrow. Knight-Hood
"You don't have to call me doctor. l don't have a medical degree. lf l could be calleed doctor it's only because l wrote a doctoral thesis. l ...l don't want to be pretentious." Cynthia demured, though she was proud of having earned the right to the title. "That's alright my dear.No need to down play your achievements. While we don't stand on ceremony here, we have our own pretentions....occaissioally." Seth's lips curled into a sardonic grin."lf we don't trumpet ourselves who will?" Cynthia knew that he was making fun of her, yet it seemed gentle mockery. meant in good humour. At least she hoped so. Regardless, objecting to it would be too thin skinned of her. lf Blackthotne wasintentionally insulting her, with his sarcasm, she refused to give him the satisfaction of getting visibly upset over it.She din't know him yet.Best to give him the benifit of the doubt. "ls Mr. Holderness here?"Cynthia changed the subject. "Yes"Seth frowned, before he caught himself. He orced an artificial smile."He's upstairs.l'm sure he assumed arrive a trifle later.lan often forgets the time." "l was just curious." Cynthia fumbled, noting that Blackthorne seemed to resent her question, though it was an obvious one.She wondered why it bothered him. "That's alright Dr. Akers. lt's a natural question. He is Colin's father.lf l appeared to take it oddly, it's only that people are always asking about my dear brother and he's rarely here to answer for himself. So, it's left for me to do it."Though his tone was polite Seth's frustration and jealousy of his stepbrother was plain to see.But she was in no position to criticise him, especially since she had never met her employer.Maybe he'd earned that resentment. "l understand that your nefew's having trouble at school." Cynthia shifted the subject again. lf Blackthorne ran the household it ill behooved her to antagoniz him on her first night here. lt might be tempting to psychoanalyze the entire family and staff. But they were not her patients. " Yes. poor boy."' Seth answered with apparent disinterest." We all expected Kate to do something with him now that she's remarrying....maybe send hm to boarding school.lnstead she's fobbed him off on us....."
Since the story seemed to flow best by following Cynthia's arrival l dropped my original prologue which recounted what happenned in 1975 from the perspective of Cynthia's patient , Colin, who was then seven years old. A shortenned version of that sequence now occurs as a flashback in l think chapters six and seven. There we get our first direct glimpse of the werewolf around which the tale centers.
"Then you don't approve of his coming here?"Cynthia enquired warilly. "Nothing against the boy" Blackthorne waved one hand dismissively."His problems are understandable.Ian was always too buissy and his marriage was shakey well before he and Kate divorced. But Colin only has two parents. So, what are you going to do?Given what happenned here seven years ago it's no wonder the boy is troubled." "What did happen?' Cynthia's ears pricked up, not aware of any special incident at that time, unless it was the breakin Mat had mentioned earlier. "l'de assumed you knew."Seth responded in a bored tone."There was a....deadly break in here in the fall of '75, just before a party to celibrate the release of lan's solo album.lt was all over the media at the time.Tragicly, our security was inadequate back then. The ....whoever it was broke into my stepmother's room, perhaps looking for jewelry. We never found out for sure.My late father shot at him but was ...stabbed before the man jumped through the window to escape. My father didn't make it and my stepmother had a heart attack when she found him. One of lan's bandmates was here working on his solo album and was on the terrace at the time.H was thrown down the stairs to the garden .He died too. My younger sister drowned just off our private dock....we presume trying to escape the...assailant.lan nearly drowned trying to rescue her.But it was too late.Jen....she couldn't swim.Richard found poor Colin hiding in the boathouse. He couldn't talk for weeks. How much he saw we're not sure.He has vivid memories of that night. But there's no way to tell how accurate they are.He was only seven after all." "That's terrible!"Cynthia brought her hand up to her throat in surprise. She'd never thought it was so bad.She was startled at the mention that her employer's sister had drowned at the estate.Could that be coincidence?Possibly. But it was definitely an odd one."lt could help if l had his files to study."Cynthia returned to the reason she'd come. She wanted to avoid family politics as much as possible, though she could see that wasn't going to be easy. "Richard said that they should be here tomarrow or Teusday, if the post is timely."Seth sounded bored."l do hope you'll have better luck than the doctors Kate took him to.They've had him on antianxiety and antidepressant drugs for years without much success.lt's sad really.Poor boy wakes up screaming in the night. He just can't get over what occurred...not that any of us truly have." Despite his words Blackthorne did not appear especially troubled by what he'd just recounted. "l'll do my best to help him, Mr. Blackthorne."Cynthia promised earnestly. "l'm sure you will my dear."Seth sighed."Richard felt that you were the best of the candidates he spoke to us about, despite your lack of experience. You're young, sympathetic and focused solely upon him. That should help. You aught to be less threatenning than someone ...older."He was mildly baiting her and she knew it; implying that she was too young and inexperienced for the job. "Thank you."Cynthia said sweetly, deciding not to take the bait. "This job means alot to me. l've worked towards it all my life.l really need this opportunity.l chose this career because of my own childhood. So, l'm not just saying it when l claim l'll do my best.l know what it feels like." "How fascinating."Seth perked up, his interest piqued."You've been in therapy yourself? lf it's not prying too much may l ask the circumstances? You needn't answer if you don't want to." "l don't mind."Cynthia replied calmly."l had to go to psychologists and psychiatrists back when l was a child, until l was seven or eight, when we moved to New York. l used to havereally bad nightmares, the same one over and over. So, l woke up screaming too.lt's been more than twenty years...l still remember how afraid those dreams made me.l tried my best to forget them. My parents didn't know what to do for me.They tried to be sympathetic. They forbade me to watch scary movies, experimented with my diet, made my brother Danny stop picking on me.But none of it worked.l was always exhausted because l was too terrified to fall asleep. They took me to doctors....psychiatrists then. Some were nice enough, l suppose, but still threatenning to a kid as young as l was then.Others were cold....too clinical, as if l were a lab specimen under a microscope....just a problem to be solved....not a person. They put me on various drugs too, to try to keep me quiet.lt didn't do any good. They were less interested in what caused my dreams or in making me feel better than in making me 'managible'.Eventually, the nightmares faded as l got more involved in school and things. But l promised myself then that l would become a psychologist and treat my patients better than l was treated. You and your brother are giving me the chance to do that.l'm greatfull to you." "lt sounds like you're the perfect choice, Miss Akers....just what Colin needs."Seth smiled smugly. Mat said nothing during their exchange, yet seemed distinctly uncomfortable.H e looked around the room, trying not to focus on Cynthia or Seth. Now that he'd brought her up to the house he was a proverbial third wheel. "Uh, if yuh don't mind....doc....Mr. Blackthorne, l'll go take Dr. Aker's luggage up tuh her rooms.l can get a fire started since l'm already here now, an' l gotta' take her bags up anyhow...." "That would be great."Cynthia beamed at Mat in gratitude."l need to warm up and dry off before dinner.l'll want to change too.ls dinner formal, Mr. Blackthorne?" "No"Seth chuckled in reply."You must be tired after your long drive up.Go relax for awhile, my dear.Dinner is at eight."He winked at her mischeiviously."l'm sure you'll look lovely in whatever you chose to wear." Cynthia forced a smile in return.Hopefully, not all of the family would prove as.....challenging as Seth.Besides, she didn't mind a bit of flattery, even if it did border on sarcasm.lt would take more than that to scare Cynthia off if that was what Seth intended. She was here to stay.
Excellent. Always leaves me wanting to read more. The fun part of reading it in small "episodes" as I will call them, is it makes it seem even more DS like for me. I can watch it playing out in my head and almost hear the strains of Robert Colbert's background music. For this one I could picture a low slow playing chello. Can't wait for more. Knight-Hood
Dinner was served at eight .Cynthia chose a simple turquoise dress to match her eyes and a pair of open toed high heels of the
same color. The dress felljust above the knee, flattering without being exceedingly formal. Too tired to unpack completely Cynthia took out her make up, brushes and her blow drier. While not as bad as she feared her hair definitely needed some drying and brushing out before she set it up for the evening. Long hair could be wonderfull but it required alot of work to maintain. She wished hers had more wave to it on it's own.At least she didn't have to dye it since she was a natural blond. Her twin, Danny, had even lighter hair than she did, possibly because he was outdoors more often. He had a better tan too, door him! lt annoyed him when people thought he bleached it.He looked more the Californian than the New Yorker he was. They both inherited their mother's coloring. When she got to the dining room she saw that lan Holderness sat at the head of the table.Though they had not yet formally met there was no mistaking him. She hadn't previously known which of the band members he was from the her brother's old Odyssey albums. But now she recognised him immediately even though the photos were all seven to fourteen years old. His raven black hair ,with it's almost blue highlights, was shorter than in the old pictures.Parted on the left it cascaded over his forhead and the collar of his russette turtleneck. Not a single gray hair was visible though he must be nearing fourty. His skin was flawless, without the hint of a wrinkle. He had a light tan.His mustache and van dyke goatee gave him a rakish air.His features were fine and his jaw square with high cheekbones.Holderness smile was blindingly white and Cynthia could easilly drown in those silver gray eyes of his.She remembered why she had thought him cute in her teen years. Those almost glowing eyes were difficult to look away from, though she noted shadows beneath them as if he hadn't slept in a long time. She wondered what caused those sleepless nights.Perhaps he was nervous about his son's recent return. Holderness stood up when she enterred the room.Although tall he was less so than Dr. Marsden or Mat.He walked over to greet her. "Good evening Dr. Akers."He said in the same deep rich voice with it's British lilt she recalled from his Odyssey vocals."lt's nice to meet you at last. l apologise for not being downstairs to meet you when you arrived.Lwas preoccuppied. But that's no excuse." He held out his hand as if to shake hers.Cynthia held out her own in turn. She was surprised when, instead of shaking it, he bent his head and lightly kissed it, in a courtly manner.lt was not what she expected. But Cynthia was quite willing to get used to it. Wordlessly, he pulled out her chair for her.Once she sat down lan helped her to adjust her chair until she was comfortable. Then he straightenned and walked back to his own chair. Before he sat down he waved to her with a wry smile."Welcome to Falcon's Airie Miss Akers. l hope you'll enjoy your stay with us." Seth sat close to his stepbrother near the head of the table. He wore a deep blue jacket with a pale blue shirt and an ascot in place of a tie.He watched the proceedings with a broader than usual cheshire cat grin.He winked at Cynthia without immediately speaking, though he was clearly bursting with commentary. "Wonderfull to see you again, doctor."Seth was unable to contain himself any longer."You look as lovely as l said you would. Doesn't she lan?' "Yes, she does."lan replied looking at Cynthia rather than his step brother. "Thank you, Mr. Blackthorne....Mr. Holderness."Cynthia responded politely, eyes locked on lan. Holderness seemed about to say something. He gazed at Cynthia intently. But he did not speak, as if deciding against it.She wondered what he'd meant to say. Then she put the question aside as fruitless. She'd probably never know, so why waste time on it? Next to Seth sat a short girlwhoes long dark hair was pulled back by a scarf in a loose pony tale at the base of the neck. She had a heart shaped face, her skin a soft golden brown. Her intelligent brown eyes were veiled by long lashes.Cynthia guessed her to be Lisa Ramirez, Holderness' private secretary. She looked even younger than the twenty three years Mat had ascribed to her. Opposite Lisa was a lanky young black man, whom Cynthia estimated to be in his late twenties or early thirties. His skin was a deep carmel color, his hair cropped short. He wore a coat and tie but didn't seem comfortable in either.Maybe it was the occaission that made him ill at ease.He must be Jeremy Hutchinson, Seth's attendant. Beside Lisa was Dr. Marsden, whom Cynthia had met after accepting the job. He'd reminded her then of photos she had seen of Frued, though she thought Marsden better looking.A tall slim man, his hair was now white and he sported a full yet trimmed beard. His suit was dark blue, with a gray vest and a wine red tie.At sixty eight he remained vigourous. Across the table sat an adolecent boy in a mint green button down shirt, his expression sullen, his eyes downcast. He did not glance up when she enterred the room. His medium length hair was an odd mat black that looked atificial to her.lt could only be Colin. The dining room was darkly paneled, with eighteenth century sideboards and a large marble fireplace at one end.lt's style and motifs were classical rather than gothic in contrast to much of the house.Seascapes hung along the walls in ellaborately gilt frames. The table was long and rectangular, covered by a silken cloth. When openned out it could seat twenty six guests. But tonight the leaves had been removed for a more intimate setting of eight, of which oly seven places were in use. There were seven high backed chairs of dark carven wood with red velvet upholstery. One was set aside so that Seth could roll his wheel chair up to the table. A bowl of fresh cut flowers sat to either side of a silver candleabra, above which glinted another crystal chandelier, though a smaller one than in the foyer.lt's electric candles illuminated the room.Curtained french doors dominated the west side of the room facing the terrace and the garden. Beyond that lay the river. Dr.Marsden greeted Cynthia and made introductions to those she not yet formally met. Lisa smiled warmly, blushing a little."Hi"she waved in a freindly greeting.Jeremy nodded in acknowledgement yet could only manage a wary half smile."Good ev'nen ,doctor." "This is Colin."Marsden indicated the boy.Colin did not even look up,just made an unenthusiastic half wave. "Colin, say hello to Dr. Akers. You're being impolite."Ian's tone was soft yet there was an edge underneath."She drove a long way just to be here for you. The least you can do is look up a greet her." "Hello, doc."Colin repeated dully, glancing up for a moment but still not looking directly at her. She saw that his eyes were a vivid brown.Sighing, lan shook his head in frustration but didn't press his son further.lt was too soon to make a scene over minor infractions. He wasn't used to being a father again and Colin wasn't used to having one. "l'm happy to meet you all."Cynthia responded, concluding the awkward process as deftly as she could. While not terminally shy,Cynthia did not enjoy being the focus of attention, having endured too much of that in her childhood. She was more comfortable watching and listenning to others. From what she could tell Colin was going to be a challenge. But she had expected no less. She just hoped that she was up to it, for both their sakes.
The dining room was so well described I felt I was sitting at the table. So now all the players have been introduced. I love the way the tale is both modern yet gothic. Except for the mention of rock bands it could be set in the 1800's. The timelessness of the tale due to the setting makes Cynthia as well as the reader feel as though they have gone back in time, or to a place where time has stood still. Just reading it makes me want to start waxing poetic. This kind of tale is one that makes me want to curl up with the book and shut out the world and get lost in it. The style of it would fit well on my shelf next to Dickens, Poe or any of the classics of the 1890's. Sorry to go on about it, but this is the kind of tale I wish more authors would try to adopt. I miss the gothic classics.
l wasn't sure if l could merge the rock and roll aspect with the Gothic. Hopefully l'm succeeding. lt could easilly become cheesy in a bad way.But classical musicians have occaissionally been used in Gothics set in modern times as well as the Victorian era and the 60's and 70's did see an occult boom along wit the hieght of the paperback gothic.l also have a fondness for the fallen celebrity motif. The idea of the supernatural rock star was used by Anne Rice and later Highlander[the series] had an episode too. l don't think we've had any werewolf rock stars yet.[though Alice Cooper did an obscure film in the 80's that might qualify....
Chapter 5 :A little dinner conversation. [Sept. 19,1982]
The dinner was roast beef, boiled potatoes, green beans, carrots and soft warm buttered rolls, whoes fragrance filled the air.lt made Cynthia's mouth water, reminding her of home.Although she wasn't much of a cook her mother was.lt was simple traditional fare, not gourmet. But it was delicious. Mrs. Jeffers was an excellent cook and was justly proud of it. She had come to work at Falcon's Aerie as an assistant cook a few years before the builder's son passed away. She met Harlan there and they married becoming the estate's caretakers after the owner died since the cousin who inherited chose not to live there. The place had really been too big for them to care for alone even in their youth but Marcus Howarth did not care if the place grew delapidated. Aida was a plump woman in her sixties, with short wavy white hair and freindly blue eyes.Harlan couldn't have been more of a contrast. He was a few years older, closer to seventy and his accent still reflected his New England origin.Nearly as tall as Dr. Marsden his back was slightly stooped.Harlan was a dour tactiturn man, with what seemed a perpetual frown. He'd begun as apprentice to the ground's keeper back in the 1930's. Harlan eyed Cynthia with a hint of suspicion but did not speak. She got the impression that that took some effort on his part.He and Aida had dwelled alone at the estate for almost thirty years.Harlan was used to being his own boss as Howarth rarely bothered them.He still acted as if he were boss most of the time despite his wife's gentle nudging.lan indulged the old man, which seemed to annoy Seth. But Blackthorne grudgingly deffered to his stepbrother.Jeffers did not appear especially greatfull for his employer's indulgence if he noticed it. Once the main course was cleared away the seven of them remained in the dinning room to let their meals settle, while awaiting dessert. They'd conversed little during the meal itself.Afterwards there was an awkward silence for a time until Dr. Marsden took it upon himself to break the ice. "So, Seth tells me you suffered a problem similar to Colins when you were young.l wasn't aware of that"Richard observed."Can you tell us more?" "lt's true."Cynthia answered. She wished that Seth hadn't told anyone but she'd never asked him to keep it in confidence.lt had been risky to tell him.Yet, she couldn't castigate him for it. lf there was fault to be had it was her own."Unlike Colin's problem while l had dreams l never knew what caused them. They began as far back as l can remember. They finally faded when l was seven or eight.l recall because we moved from Chicago to Queens the summer between second and third grade. They'd started taking me to doctors while l was in kindergarten.Unfortunately, the doctors seemed more interested in sedating me than curing me." "You're lucky she's come to help you, Colin."Lisa said to the boy encouragingly."She knows what it's like." "Yeah, l suppose."Colin glanced away with pointed disinterest. "Do you remember any of your dreams?"Lisa enquired, thuroughly rivitted. "Not much."Cynthia shrugged, answering guardedly."lt's been a long time and l tried my best to forget them.l can only remember a few details.lt was freezing cold...and windy.l can still hear that wind sometimes in my head.lt howled like a living thing....a very angry one. " her gaze was faraway."l saw weird greenish lightning. There was no rain. But there was plenty of thunder. The clouds all swirled inwards like a giant tornado forming or a mini hurricane.l could still see the moon at the center of the eye of the storm. The moon was full and red as if dipped in fresh blood.l couldn't move, like l was paralyzed or even tied up.lt was terrible. There was a man there, oddly dressed.l think it might've been Victorian or maybe Edwardian. He carried a long wavy bladed knife, that looked like it was silver.l knew that he intended to kill me with it though l have no idea who he was or why he wanted to.The man isn't familar to me so l don't know where his image came from.l presume the dream symbolized something but l've never figured out what." Lisa looked shocked.Dr. Marsden appeared interested from a clinical perspectivew though he was not a psychologist. Both lan and Jeremy seemed sympathetic.Seth had a strange expression, which he quickly saught to conceal.lt was as if he'd heard something familiar, yet wanted to pretend otherwise.Colin was visibly interested now, both shaken and excited. "The knife sounds like a kris, an ancient sacrificial knife ...from lndia think. There's one with the antique weopons in the library."lan noted. "l'll bet the doctors told you to just forget it, that you were safe and it was only hurting you to keep bringing it up...."Colin's words tumbled out in a hurried rush."That it was just a dream...that you only imagined it...that it meant nothing..." "Pretty much"Cynthia responded."A few tried to interpret it without much success or insisted it came from some book or movie though they could not point to one.But it used to baffle me why the majority paid so little attention to the dream itself.l think they just want me to stop waking everybody up when l screamed...to quit bothering them talking about it.lt made them uncomfortable. My parents wanted me to sleep normally, so l could do better in school and they'd be less exhausted every morning. The doctors couldn't understand how scared those dreams made me.There was something in that storm....something evil that demanded that man to kill me...that wanted my soul.l'm not sure the doctors really cared and that hurt me. lt made me mad too." "That's how l feel!"Colin nodded vigourously, excited."They never really listen. They they they know everything..." "We'll talk more about it tomarrow then."Cynthia smiled."Or maybe later on tonight,if you want, after dinner. The difference between us is that nobody knew of anything that could've inspired my dreaml was too young then to have read anything and couldn't find a movie old enough that might match. But you went through a very real trauma. l think that's why it lingers for you. lt happenned and left very real consequences. Also it occurred when you were about the age when my dreams ceased." "That dream would certainly scare me."Lisa chimed in, rubbing her arms with a visible shudder."lt sounds like something out of a Lovecraft story; maybe a sacrifice to open a rift between the demensions to let in the Old ones like Cthulu. His tales always had that sort of thing going on." "lt does sound rather Lovecraftian at that....perhaps THE DUNWICH HORROR."Seth aggested in agreement."He was a master storyteller if a trifle repetative. He could create an atmosphere of dread like few others outside of Poe.Lovecraft rarely gets the credit he's due because his work first appeared in the old pulps and more recently in paperback.Of course horror is less respectable today than in the Victorian era." "l vaguely know the name Lovecraft."Cynthia commented."But l've never read anything of his.Because of my dreams l avoided horror for years, though my brother Danny used to watch the movies as a kid." "Lovecraft's been reprinted in book form over the last fifteen or so years. He's experienced something of a poular revival."Seth continued."lnterestingly enough, Jared Nicholson, the man who built this house, was an occultist as was his son, Dylan. They included grimoires in the library and wrote commentaries on them.Jared brought back all sorts of strange artifacts from his travels, like the dagger lan mentioned. He was a member of the Hermetic Society of the Golden Dawn in the 1890's, the premier occult organization of the day and seminal to western ceremonial magic.l've heard that he hosted Aliester Crowley himself in this very house around 1900.They'd met in England in 1898 l believe." "Really?"Lisa was fascinated."Crowley? That's freaky!l didn't know about that.He was into some pretty dark stuff, l've read." "lndeed he did."Seth agreed, nodding."But he was a genius in his own warped way, though drugs and hedonism did him in in the end.Such a waste of potential..." "The bloody bastard was just a nut and a charlatan."lan snapped in disgust."The creep died alone and broke guess he got what he deserved.Alot of people glamorize him.But if he had any real power it didn't do him any good." "You have to admit he was an interesting character."Seth interjected, surprised by lan's vehemence. "l don't HAVE to admit anthing."lan huffed, shaking his head."Some of my ....contemporaries idolized Crowley, Jimi Page for example.l can't see that it did him any good either. But it doesn't really matter. Can we change the subject?" "Fine lan.l don't mind."Seth shrugged, non chalantly."l don't know why you were getting so upset." [to be continued.....]
l haven't posted a new segment in awhile but l'm finally nearing completion on the overall novel itself. Barring the epilogue to wrap up a few loose ends it is done all 68 chapters and 822 [handwritten] pages of it.Hopefully this version will finally be read by someone other than me......
Since it seems likeliest that it will be split into smaller segments l subdivided it myself into three parts. lt remains a single long novel in which no one portion stands alone. But it could be presented as a trilogy in the same sence LOTR was divided into one on publication. [at least l managed to come in under 1000 pages....though it would've been easy to expand certain sections. l skipped over a week with barely a word.Still, l think it has what it needs to have.]Just in case l did brief outlines of the first two parts that could be appended to the latter two 'books' as introductions [what has gone before...]l'de have to expand it further to try to reintroduce the characters and settings in the later sections.Hopefully the length won't scare readers off.
Although it's far from certain it will come to pass l'm mulling over the possibility of a sequal focusing upon the heroine's brother, Danny, a NYC detective. At the end of the novel he was left with some 'adaptations' to deal with which would be part of the story. Another part would be the inevitable return of one of the first novel's villains who was thought to be safely 'out of the way'.But with the supernatural involved is any villain ever definitively defeated? This would not be the main villain from book one but rather one of those affected by the curse the latter laid. lt will most likely occur in either 1990/91 or 1993/94 when there were full moons near enough to Halloween.Carl Foster is the man blaimed for the deaths at the finale of book one and possibly those cited from 1974-75.He was not guilty of most but was a killer. But the official story made him infamous.Years later [8-11 years] a band of college students, dabbling in the occult, at the nearby community college in Wappinger Falls decide to create a 'hand of glory'.Such an item could reputedly open any lock and immobilize those who looked upon it.lt required the hand of a murderer to make. So, at Halloween [or the preceeding 'Devil's/Mischief night]they set out to disinter Foster from his grave in Corchester's cemetery. But as might be expected they get more than they bargained for. Once he is unleashed again Carl decides to live up to his reputation as well as gaining revenge upon the survivors from Falcon's Aerie in 1982.The nearest of them lived in NYC.Thus, Foster heads to the Big Apple.Danny soon hears about the desecration of Foster's grave but is one of the few to realize what it might mean. A serial killer would be bad enough. But a supernatural one resurrected from death was even worse...... Time will tell if l can actually make an novel from the idea. But it might work.....
l'm debating how each of the characters will or won't fit in. lt seems likely that Seth's ghost, still trapped in the estate's mirrors, will attempt to escape them and in the process ally himself to Carl.Foster might go to the abandoned estate after he was revived.H e had nowhere else to go.lf his own home had not been knocked down it had probably long since been sold.Though he might've gone to his former home whatever he did there would doubtless make it unsafe to stay there. At the estate Seth's ghost might've become the brains of the team as Foster was not particularly intelligent.Seth needed someone to help him escape from the mirrors.lt's even possible that Carl's now adult son, Andy could play some role too. l'm just not sure what.Foster's friend Eddie was still in the local asylum, never having recovered from what he saw in 1982. Lisa has much the same problem as Danny. But whether l can fit her in to the plot l don't know.Quite possibly, the story would begin in 1990 and culminate in 1993.But l'm still not sure yet. There are any number of ways it might go. The Halloween jaunt by the college students could equally well have been to the estate where one of them becomes Seth's servant or host. The disinterment of Foster need not strictly have been on Halloween though it remains a good possibility.Oh well, food for thought.
l may work in lan and Cynthia after all. l'm mulling the ramifications to see if it's worth it. The extant cast is big so l don't want to stuff them all in unless they have a reason to be there plotwise. But Cynthia is probably still working with Dr. Marsden at the sanitarium as well as in lan's foundation.Marsden might even have retired by this time.Colin is in his 20's and has inherited already as of 1989.lan , under his new name maybe working in music behind the scenes but trying to form a new band and tour might be too risky.Someone might recognize him and question his 'death'.While there was a death certificate and autopsy report documents can be forged. He still had the same fingerprints for example. So, he had to avoid the media limelight.l'm considering him teaching music at the local college and playing music on the side for fun when not hunting those infected with vampirism and lycanthropy.Seth would want revenge for being left trapped within the mirrors and might wish to possess Colin to obtain his youth and wealth. l'll guess we'll see how it pans out.
Despite trying several angles l still can't get the pieces to fit together.l haven't found a focus or sequence that holds onto my own interest long enough to write it.Neither Seth nor Carl Foster work for me as the villain though both could play roles in the story.l guess l'll put it back on the shelf for now.
Omen: Get in line, I have been working like crazy also. I have two major projects I have to finish and hopefully everything slows down. Haven't had time to log into the board... I actually miss it. It feels good popping my head in to see what's going on.

g40t90yes: Good Morning. Now I am no political activist, but with is going on in today's activist world, I have a question. Last Sunday Vice President Pence walked out of a Colts Football game because the Players took a knee. I would like to read your View about this

g40t90yes: Continue. Now The NFL Owners (Jones-Cowboys, Ross-Dolphins) are going to demand their players stand for the Anthem. Again just thinking out loud. Couple of weeks ago Owners (Jones) knelt with players. Now you are pulling back. Why??

g40t90yes: One more thing. Some people view The NFL Draft and NBA Draft as a modern day or fashionable auction block for black young men. Thoughts!!! Please.

The Muse: Im sure there are going to be a lot of thoughts on this...why not start a thread on the topic under the "chat" board. It will be easier for everyone to read and comment on it there. This shoutbox is kinda cumbersome to have to scroll through to read stuff.

The Muse: Where does the time go?
Nov 7, 2017 9:26:16 GMT -5
Omen: I don't know... some say time goes around in circles - for me, its just a dreary long squiggly line, in some places in its a smile, in others... its not.
